My Top 5 Albums Of Summer
Summer….autumn
Here we are at the end of (nearly) everyone’s favorite season, and to show my appreciation for a summer filled with the breakthrough of several amazing artists, I have decided to compile my top five of the previous months. So without further a due here they are.

Well here is a band I thought would offer only their ultra catchy single “Pumped up Kicks”, but upon listening to the band’s debut album, I was pleasantly surprised. Songs such as “Helena Beat” and “Houdini” give the album some real backbone. While the mid albums track “Waste” ascends to pure musical bliss. Some of the songs may fall flat, mainly the final portion of the album. The band has still released an album which has main a nice round blip on everyone’s musical radar.

Another debut album that has really stood on its own two feet. The 60’s sound of the New York band has set itself apart from the surrounding music being offered out there. Upon my first listen to the band, I found myself quickly singing along to the catchy tunes and chilled out sound. “Never saw the point” and “Go Outside” are by now amongst the 2011 summer anthems (in between Pumped Up Kicks and Wetsuit), it’s in the albums tracks like “Bumper” and “Never Heal Myself” that they really come into their own. However a disappointing set at Leeds Festival this year has led to a slight dislike for the band. Perhaps another live viewing is needed?
3.Vaccines- What did you expect from the Vaccines

Not much needs to be said about this fantastic debut album. “Wetsuit”, “All in White” and “Post Break up Sex” are already three of my favorite songs of the year, and here they all are on one album. The lead singer’s voice being similar to Interpol’s front man, yet the two bands couldn’t be more different. Upbeat and perfect indie beats make for perfect multiple listens. Prepare to have a new favorite band…
2.The Horrors- Skying

Now here is a choice which plagues me ever so slightly. Horrors are one of the best guitar bands in Britain at the moment, no doubt. Their album “Primary Colors” is nothing short of a masterpiece. The single “Still Life” is perhaps the best single this year. Yet this album for me was a victim of over hype (mainly by myself). It fails to grab the number one spot because I was slightly disappointed by the albums second half. Yet songs such as “I can see through you and “Changing the Rain” are brilliant. I can only blame myself for making such a big deal about and album that is fantastic yet I expected a masterpiece
1. Noah and the Whale- Last Night on Earth

Well here is the number 1, and believe me, if you were to tell me five months ago I would name this band as one of my favorites, I would have be physically sickened. A band I hated with a passion for years, ever since that awful “5 year’s time” with Laura Marling I have continually bad mouthed this band to those that would listen. But then came Last night on earth, a surprise equal to that of finding a diamond ring in a Christmas cracker. “Just Me before We Met” and “The Line” are my particular favorites. Yet here is an album where every song is a gem. So well done Noah, going from hated to the top is what earns you my number one album of the summer…
